OPERATION LOTUS
|

The story of FrontierWorks began in what some called, ‘The land of Sinim’ -- China. 中国.
The lotus is a flower synonymous with the Chinese race and culture. And like the lotus, the house churches in China flourish underground, yet out of the mud and mire of great persecutions and adversities, they blossom forth with such purity of faith and testimonies of God's wondrous grace.
Background
The Chinese government does not condone the proselytizing and growth of Christianity in China, despite its claims of religious freedom. Government-run churches usually do not preach nor practice the full counsel of Jesus Christ. As such, the existence and activities of the unregistered house churches are viewed with much disdain by the authorities. But, in the midst of harsh persecution and oppression, the house churches continue to experience explosive growth, creating an enormous need for teaching and resources. Consider this:
up until recently, in some areas, several churches were still sharing one bible! It is also not uncommon for these house churches to receive teachings only once in several years, as there are just not enough pastors or preachers to go around. This has resulted in a severe lack of knowledge among the believers, thus making them susceptible to cults and other forms of spiritual deception. The need is great!

Our Mission Goals In China
Conservative estimates put the number of conversions to Christianity at 35,000 A DAY in China. We are committed to meeting the acute needs of the house churches by being a bridge for teachings and pertinent resources to reach them. There is an urgent need to raise up a large number of local leaders and empowering them to shepherd the flock. Will YOU join us in the challenge of our generation to reach the people of China with the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ?
There are still over a billion souls who have yet to hear the gospel!
Our Operations
Through Operation Lotus, our efforts are two-pronged:
• We set up bible schools, leadership training, and provide financial support for local ministers & ministries.
• We coordinate disaster-relief projects and run self-help micro-enterprises (Read two of our stories here), showing the people the practical love of our Lord, who calls us to show our faith with our actions (James 2:15-16) and who has a special heart for the poor and needy (Proverbs 14:31, 19;17)
Because we seek to achieve maximum impact with minimum resources, and we believe that the Chinese are ultimately the best people to reach China, therefore we identify and train key national house-church leaders, and empower them for effective ministry.

Our Launchpad
The working models we have developed and tested in China, and the invaluable insights we have gained, enabled us to implement similar mission and bible school programs in other parts of Asia. For example, Indonesia and Myanmar are beneficiaries of this work. By God’s grace, we will continue to expand on what we have been doing, to reach the frontiers for Jesus Christ.
